After playing around with risky colors like neon brights and loud prints, local clothing brand BUM takes on a more subdued, but still equally exciting and defined, design approach for its back-to-school collection called “My ATEEtude : I Am Not Typical”.

BUM is also introducing pieces that have a camouflage design for a more rugged feel.   “We have camouflage jackets. We also have camouflage pants for our girls line.”

The brand is also continuing its line of colored chino pants, which were a hit in BUM’s previous “I Change the Rules” collection. He excitedly shares that the brand now has “woven polos with stripes and checks in dark colors,” which is a nod to BUM's grungy, dark side.

Denim will still be the focal fabric for most of the bottoms, but BUM will continue pushing the development by bringing in new fabrics and elements every now and then.

Local clothing brand BUM is pushing the envelope further this summer season.

If dark, somber tones and wild, splashy prints were the main elements in the brand’s previous collections, BUM’s new summer collection called “I Change the Rule,” which is the first of the three My ATEEtude campaigns for 2013, now trains the spotlight on the summer season’s fashion staple: bright, bold colors and solid prints.

BUM, indeed, takes on a new design approach on this one: the pieces now are relaxed and follow more modest shapes and silhouettes. While the summer collection offers something different for the brand, it still has BUM’s signature Rock/Rebel/Emo chic that speaks volumes about individuality and fearlessness.
“Riskier colors” such as neon brights and solid colors that were not commonly utilized by BUM before, are now the focal element. “Expect riskier colors. We now use neon colors such as yellow, emerald, even orange, and bright blues in our bottoms,” says Benny Reyes, the senior merchandiser and designer for BUM. “We have also incorporated some of the top trends in international fashion into our collections. You would see them in the cuts and the textures.”
Strong lines are also the key element in BUM’s Summer Collection. Stripes—thick, thin, horizontal, vertical—don’t necessarily follow a specific fashion rule, so you can easily mix and match them with monochrome pieces in bright colors.

There’s also a touch of androgyny thrown in. So fashionistas would have a field day experimenting with blazers, jackets, skinny trousers, and printed tops and turning their everyday ensemble into a sophisticated getup in a snap.

“Unpredictable” best describes BUM’s latest style direction for the first of its three My ATEEtude campaigns for 2013. Visit your favorite department stores now and see for yourself how BUM is taking a fresh approach to fearless dressing.

As the temperature rises, BUM rolls out another banner collection for the hottest season of the year: “My ATEEtude: I Change the Rule.”
The first of My ATEEtude’s three campaigns for 2013, BUM’s “My ATEEtude: I Change the Rule” collection certainly breaks a few fashion rules.

According to Benny P. Reyes, senior merchandiser and designer for BUM, the brand will be stepping out of its comfort zone and pushing the envelope further.

BUM’s style philosophy for this coming collection is all about fearless dressing.

“This summer, we’re going to bring in bolder colors. Before, we only featured flashes of color, but this time, the color palette for BUM will be more varied. Now we have riskier colors,” Reyes says.

By “riskier colors,” Reyes means bright and neon colors like “neon green, neon orange, neon pink, neon blue, and neon yellow, for both the female and male lines.”
If before, these colors were only used as print, they will now be used as the base color of certain pieces from the new collection.

“You would see neon-colored bottoms, like pants, skirts, and shorts. And then we will also be using neon colors in our shirts. This collection will certainly show another side of BUM that the market hasn’t seen before,” Reyes adds. “Imagine, BUM used to be Goth, Emo, and Rebel, which were limited to dark colors. Now we have bright colors. This makes BUM unpredictable.”

For the next collections of BUM, more textures, fabrics, patterns, and treatments will be launched. A new line of accessories to merge with the latest designs is also underway.

“We will also have digital prints on our shirts. As you know, digital prints are big these days. We will also have more studs, spikes in some of our products, ” Reyes adds. “Perhaps we will also have more limited edition pieces.”

There’s a lot more to expect from BUM. Watch out.
